...the judeman...
Okay- So...although I just wrote a 50page blogpost (see below)...I wanted to write another one to brag about Jude!
Oh. My. Word. I stare at him sometimes as he's playing...and it just tickles me that he's this KID now...there's barely a trace of baby left in him...and it TOTALLY breaks my heart! ::sigh::
Okay...let's see- what's been goin on w/ the Jman besides the flu?!
*...got his first haircut w/ Jessica

*...loves putting on mommy and daddy's clothing- it's pretty hilarious b/c most of the time- he wears the clothes like a cape...but every once in a while, he will get it over his head!
*...says "lay-la" ...ever since he's been able to roll- I always say- "oh, see you later!" whenever Jude leaves the area...and now- he'll wave at us and say "lay-la!"
*...says his own version of "bless you" whenever one of us sneezes- haha...we're not sure exactly what he's saying...but he always says something after we sneeze
*...says "twoooooo" ...whenever we count- "ooooonnne...twoooooo....threeeeeee", Jude usually says the "two" part for us- and it. is. stinkin'. adorable!
*...yells for "Papaaaaaaa" around the house (that's my dad)
*...knocks on the front door, looks at me, and says, "Dada?!"
*...says "that?" and points to things he wants...the "that???"'s get increasingly more high pitched the more he wants it...and the more we don't give it to him! haha
*...shakes his head to tell us "no" now...
*...says "uh ooooh" whenever he drops something
*...hits things that we tell him he cannot have/do
*...puckers his lips to kiss now- which...has GOT to be the cutest thing ever to see those suckers coming at your face!
*...pats your back to "give you love" when he hugs you
*...cleans up his trucks!!!! well- he dumps them out and usually puts them back w/o me prompting him! YES!
*...sits on random things- like the bucket w/ his trucks- it's pretty comical!*...swiffers like a champ! I even took one of the bars out to make it "Jude sized"- and he will randomly swiffer the tile (and carpet) all day!
*...says "vrrrroooom" when playing w/ his trucks
*...stirs his pretend food in the bowl- and takes pretend bites- and shares with us!
Oy! That's a long list! But since I don't do the monthly updates anymore...there's been alot! :) Derrick and I still can't get over how fun and adorable he is. He truely brings us such great joy. It's hard to believe that 17months have already gone by... we're just hoping to soak him in as much as possible right now until 2.0 arrives! Can't wait to see Jude the big bro in action! I'm sure he'll be a sweetheart! :) ::sigh::
...join the song...
One day every voice will sing
Every beggar, prince and king
Every nation, tongue and tribe
Every ocean in between will cry, will cry
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
To Him all the glory belongs
Praise Him above you heavenly hosts
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Let all the earth sing along
Come join the song
Gathered round the throne above
We’ll be swept up in the melody
Hearts will overflow with love
We’ll be singing out a symphony, we’ll sing
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
To Him all the glory belongs
Praise Him above you heavenly hosts
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Let all the earth sing along
Come join the song
The song that fills eternity
Sung throughout all history
As angels shout and kings lay down their crowns
We bow down
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above you heavenly hosts
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
To Him all the glory belongs
Praise Him above you heavenly hosts
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Let all the earth sing along
Come join the song
Come join the song...sing along
Come join the song
Come join the song

Wow. What a week. For those of you who hadn't heard...Jude was hit with influenza. The whole ordeal started a couple weeks ago...Jude was extra cranky and I took his temp...it was 102. He woke up at 11pm crying- which hasn't happened since he was only months old- and when Derrick checked up on him...the poor guy had dye-ra (diarrhea). The fever/dye-ra only lasted until Wed night...but he had a fever on and off on Thursday. Jude was perfect on Fri and throughout the weekend. Monday night (last week)...Derrick was putting Jude to bed...he was yucky cranky again and wouldn't eat dinner...and noticed he was super hot- to the touch... the fever was back. His temp hovered at 102 all day...but then Tuesday night reached 104.8. I. about. freaked. I mean...The boy had never even had it as high as a 101, let alone 102...but then 104.8?! I wasn't sure when I was supposed to rush him to the ER...so I called the after hours nurseline...I'd been talking to a nurse off and on all day...I didn't want to take Jude to the pediatrician for them to tell me that he just needs to take Tylenol and baths- what a waste! We managed to get his fever down by altering Tylenol/Motrin...but man...did it make for a long night! As soon as the office opened...Derrick called to get us in. I took Jude in at 9:30...they checked his temp (which I had gotten down to 99), his nose, lungs, ears. Nothing. I was starting to get upset. You cannot tell me that it is NORMAL for a lil baby...who stays HOME all day w/ his mom...will out of the blue get 104 temps! The Dr. did a nose swab...which killed me b/c Jude was NOT thrilled w/ it- I don't blame him- I have never before stuck anything that high up my nose before in my life! We had to wait for 20 mins for the results- which...ATT may have HORRID coverage...but thank God for iPhones- b/c we youtubed Sesame Street the entire time and Jude was content! When the Dr. came back...she told me that although the line was very faint...Jude did test positive for influenza "a". ?! Okay- so he has the flu? Well...then she tells me...that she thinks that it may be the new strand of flu- the H1N1- which my next words were- "are you telling me my son has the SWINE FLU?!" Long story short- come to find out that influenza "a" has 2 strands...the regular seasonal flu...and the swine flu. The swine flu is apparently more common than we think...and not "as dangerous" as the media portrays either. The Dr. reassured me that the deaths we are hearing about are typically cases of people who have prior medical issues... um...okay. She also continues by telling me that there is no way of knowing for sure if it is the H1N1 unless further tests are taken...but would not be taken unless Jude was sick enough to be hospitalized. Riiiiighhht.
Anyways. Surprisingly...once I left the Dr. office...I had a peace about it. Kids get sick. Kids get the flu. There is no way of knowing if it is indeed the "swine flu"...but at least I know it's the flu and that he should be getting better within 48hrs or I'd have to take him back to see the Dr. It was alot harder on Derrick...and the rest of our families, I think, than it was on me...initially. Derrick has been working crazy hours w/ rehearsals and the Worship Night (um- which totally rocked!)...and I think for him...it was just hard knowing that he couldn't be home with us. For me...the hardest part was seeing my vibrant, happy boy be so miserable. He wasn't the same child. He was a bit of a terror...and towards the evenings...my patience would run veeeerrry thin. Top that off w/ sleep deprivation- b/c we were waking up every 2-4 hours to check his temp and give him more Tylenol/Motrin- and I was a stinkin' hot.mess! I literally felt like that first week after his birth...which I felt helpless and anxious and a lil nutz. I found myself crying all day Thursday. My heart was racing all day....to the point that I burst out crying when my mom and dad came over w/ lunch b/c I had been confined to watching TV the past several days (the only way Jude would rest and nap) and had a MOUND of stuff to do around the house... My poor dad felt so bad for me- he vacuumed my entire house! :) Love that man! Derrick was able to come home early...and didn't have rehearsal. His parents came over that night w/ dinner. I felt "ok"...it was nice not being a single- and pregnant- parent...but as soon as Derrick's parents left...I started crying all over again! ::sigh!::
The good thing is...we were continually seeing a pattern to Jude's temps...and they weren't as high as originally (oooh- forgot to mention that every morning at 4-5am, Jude would wake up w/ the chills- which were almost IMPOSSIBLE to get rid of...wicked sad)...Friday was a decent day...the highest his temps got to was 101...and he FINALLY ate something! (Of course, I cried...) Saturday was the first day that I saw my lil boy again...his temps stayed 97-98 all day w/o any Tylenol...he was playing...eating a wee lil more (still not 100% back w/ his appetite, though)...and best of all- he was my smiling/laughing lil loverloo- the crankiness...gone! He's been doing great today too!!! ::sigh:: Praise. The. Lord!
So...in what may be the world's longest blogpost- which- I'm uber impressed if you read it all w/o skimming/skipping... Jude is better. Still stuffy...but better. Thanks to all of you who called or emailed or FB'd offering prayers or dinners or whatevers. I appreciate you all so much...and I thank you for loving my son.
Please continue to pray for us Logans. The enemy thought he had the best of us- especially by attacking my baby- but we continued to believe that God has everything under control. I'm sure this will not be the end of the "attacks"...but we will be ready...

...1/2 empty? or 1/2 full?...
When it rains...it pours, right?
I feel like I live an overly blessed life. I mean...I get to stay home with my son! I live in a beautiful- albeit tiny- house...I drive a nice and new car...I have a loving, supportive, caring husband...I have a family that is dramaless that I just adore...I have great BFF's who love me and all my quirks- and I understand that I have many! But...
It just occurred to me today- maybe it has taken me a long time to realize it b/c I'm pregnant and absentminded and caring for my son and husband?! idk- but just today...I realized...My family is being attacked so heavily... I have been praying for a few people who have shared their struggles spiritually/emotionally/physically... and all the while... WE are in need of YOUR prayers!
Let me explain...
Derrick and I were doing a fantabulous job of raising Jude...being his mommy and daddy...it occurred to us that we weren't doing such a great job of being spouses...we changed that by diving into the Word together and trying to spend time "making love a verb"...I cannot express how uplifting this has been to our marriage. And since then...I've been able to be the supportive wife (I hope!) to Derrick as he is embarking on this adventure w/ the Music Team in creating a worship album for PVC... Let me tell ya- it (our closeness) couldn't have happened at a better time...b/c it's been crazy tough with the rehearsal schedules....and the long hours at work...or just the level of stress Derrick's been feeling!
When we are doing great things for God...things just get thrown at us left and right! This isn't necessarily something Derrick and I never experienced before...but it feels like this time...the enemy is trying to come at us financially.
It has been such a blessing and miracle for me to be staying home with Jude and 2.0...there have been many months...weeks...days...that Derrick and I are just in awe of God's provision...there is NO way that I should be able to stay at home...NONE.
And then...recently...it seems like all our "extra funds" are being sucked dry... first our heater went out (last winter) and cost a couple of arms and legs to fix...then there was ticket #1....then ticket #2...the garage door broke and needed repairing...now our backyard is flooded (well, we got the H2O off)...and all the other lil things that have needed fixing up (like a baby's room?!) or other splurges we probably should have thought through better!
I was thinking today...man....I could get really upset and frustrated and stressed...which...don't get me wrong...me being me- I AM a little bit of that... but, instead...I'm going to choose to continue to look up and praise God...who give and takes away...b/c this is just yet ANOTHER opportunity for Him to show us is grace and show us that He is the Provider. And that...that encourages me.
So. Please pray for the Logans....especially me, as I'm the one who stresses about these things more. Pray for Derrick as he's doing this crazy project to reach more people to come to know Him- pray for him to have wisdom, patience, endurance, strength, rest... Pray for Jude as his mom and dad are nutz!...that this sickness that keeps attacking him goes away...that through looking back at this time in his life, he can see how God loved him and his family... Pray for me as I find myself lacking energy these days...pray that I can be a patient wife when it seems Derrick has been "away"...pray that our marriage continues to grow so that we can be good examples to Jude and 2.0.... :) Thanks...
...Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him... -James 1:2, 3, 12
...eggs, kim, eggs!...
LOL! Oh man... well...first off...I bet you are ALL KINDS of shocked that I've posted 3 times in the last 2 days!!! Trust me- I'd blog more often if I had time! JW is super active now, and likes to ruin mom's life when she's not paying 100% attention!!! And I think we're moving into the "one nap" zone... ::sigh:: so my time is precious!!!
Anywho. So. I've been having a harder time getting rest with 2.0 than I did w/ 1.0! I dunno if it's b/c I'm slightly bigger than I was w/ Jude or if 2.0 is sitting differently...or what- but I cannot get comfortable at night. That being said...I spend most of my daytime in a funk! It also doesn't help that I've been trying REALLY hard at drinking more water during the day...so I find that I wake up to go to the bathroom twice as much as I did with Jude...I can only imagine what it will be like when I'm further along and my poor bladder is the size of a peanut!
I digress. So. For those of you who know us...you know that DLo is a sleep talker. I have plenty of hilarious stories about him pumping his fist in the air and yelling "CHARGE!" or sitting down on the floor next to the bed tinkering w/ his phone telling me he is fixing a slideshow for church.... it's pretty comedy! And...despite my lack of sleep these days- if he starts a'talkin, you better believe I'm going to get up to enjoy the action!!!!
So. Last night...at about 3am...I wake up b/c Derrick is sitting on the side of the bed saying something.... then he gets up and starts ruffling/smoothing the bedsheets saying something somewhat unintelligable....
D- "Everywhere...." (ruffle ruffle)
K- "What? What are you doing?"
D- "They're everywhere..." (walks over to fan switch and turns it off...)
K- "What??? What are you doing? Are you cold???)
D- "I didn't mean to do that..." (turns fan back on...) "Eggs! Everywhere!"
K- ::totally puzzled:: "Ants???? Are their ants on the bed???"
D- (goes into the bathroom and turns on light) "No...Eggs, Kim, Eggs!"
K- "Eggs?!?!"
D- "Eggs, Kim, Eggs!"
K- "I don't understand...eggs?"
D- "Eggs, Kim! You know, like scrambled eggs!"
K- ::giggles:: "Derrick, turn off the lights, you're nutz...there are NO eggs in your bed!"
***now, I must note...that usually I'm 100% sure that Derrick is sleep talking... but last night, he was SO sure of himself and caring on with the conversation like he was awake...took me a while to realize he was nutz***
D- "Oh...I must be mistaken"
No joke...we both passed back out within 2 seconds of the conversation being over! Awesomeness.

...lovebucket2.0...
We went to the Dr. on Wednesday for another ultrasound and checkup. Last month, we had an u/s but they couldn't get all the measurements...whatever- bonus for us! :) Everything looked good, according to the Doctor... we have a healthy lil... baby! No- we didn't find out! Just got a lil less than 1/2 way to go...we can wait! :) Here's a snapshot of our lovebucket #2.... for those of you who can't see it... you're looking at the baby's belly and face...and you can also see his/her arm/hand up by the head! :) What a cutie! 2.0's profile reminds me alot of Jude's when we had his u/s... big head...narrow face w/ his eyes/nose/mouth squashed close together! :) I can't wait to meet our new loverloo! :)

Oh man...Jude is so cute! He LOVES to read...which just warms my heart! And the kid is so smart- he knows when the book is upside down! Brilliant! I'm hoping he wants to have a "Drop Everything And Read" day today...b/c Mommy's new book Catching Fire comes out- and I'm pretty set on finishing it today! :)
