Day10

A picture of person you do the craziest things with:

Whether it's "Operation Dazzled at Dusk" (don't ask) or watching, um, er, some "quality" netflix movies...or perhaps running into ToysRus in only socks to... get "something"... we've done some pretty outrageous things! My babymama brings out the 2 year old in me... ;)

2.26.2011

Day9

A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most:

I know it might be uber cheese... hence the picture... but who ELSE could have gotten me through the most than the One who loved me before I was ever conceived?

Day8

A picture that makes you laugh:

I mean... didn't it make YOU laugh?! This family photo is AWESOMEsauce... and although there are MANY pictures that make me giggle... this one is just too awesome not to post!

...Jude...

Oh man. I love this boy. He is seriously one of the coolest kids I've ever had the pleasure of knowing...and I'm so beyond blessed that he's my SON! Jude is so stinkin' sweet. He loves to give his mommy kisses and hugs...loves to jump on his daddy and rock out to some John Mayer... loves to "hold" his little sister and give her kisses on top of her head. He's always saying "I want baby..." whenever she's napping and he's not... it's just precious.

I have a love/hate thing going with this stage in his life... on one hand... it's awesome seeing how much Jude is learning every day... He says and does the funniest things. I especially love when he says "I dunno!" or when he trips and then says "I'm okay!, I'm alwhite!" Oh man! This evening Derrick told him that if he got out of bed even ONE time, he'd get a spankin... so of course 5 mins later he comes out... but luckily DLo was... "busy"... so I told Jude "Hurry back to your room so daddy doesn't spank you!!!" He ran, jumped on his bed, then wiping his brow (which was actually the top of his head) says "Phew!" I.Died. LOL! Where does he come UP with that stuff?! But on the other hand... it's frustrating that there is still a communication gap... and that there are still things that Jude just doesn't "get" ... like... you NEED to go to bed b/c Mommy and Daddy need a BREAK! Haha... but I want to cherish and savor these moments... b/c they're already going by so fast... and I just know that I'm going to blink and he'll be in school... or driving... or ::gasp:: dating. No... he won't ever do that! ;)

As Jude is getting older... I've experienced something I never imagined that I would ever experience again. I was always a tall kid. Always. In my kindergarten picture... I was in the back row... where all the kids next to me were the same height... as each other... and then there's this big jump and there's me... and then a bigger jump and that's the teacher. I was almost always THE tallest kid in class... and for certain the tallest girl. It didn't always bother me... but hearing the words "you're tall" all your life is thoroughly annoying. I'm sure those of you who are "short" can relate. I mean... Yes. I'm tall. No. You're NOT the first freakin' person in the world to tell me. I mean. Really? My childhood was great... don't get me wrong... but it was also very hard in ways. Sticks n' stones? Um... they don't always hurt as bad as words... and try growing up an abnormally tall girl... who is part Asian... with a dad who people mistaken as your grandpa (although... it didn't bother me or embarrass me that they thought that, only ticked me off!)... I mean... yeah... now that I'm a grown up... I chose to take those moments and mold them into who I am... and what I believe about me...

...It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who sees me and sees Jude and sees that he's so tall. I mean... His momma's practically a giant. But... already... people have started saying "he's SO tall" or more disgustingly "he's SO big". Don't get me wrong. I know it's just something people say. I know. And I actually say "he's really big" too. And... it probably won't be such a big deal when he's 6... and he ACTS like he's 6. But when he's 2... and he acts 2... but he looks like he's 5... well.... those strange looks... and then the "oh he's SO big..." has started to grate on my nerves... I think... Mostly b/c... it brings back a lot of yucky feelings that I had about myself growing up... feelings that I've overcome and moved passed... but now I feel like I'm experiencing them all over again w/ Jude. ...I find myself feeling so bad for him when I drop him off with other kids (ie Sunday School)... and they tell me that he's such a good kid...but doesn't realize how much bigger than the other kids he is. I mean... they're not being mean about it! They LOVE him... but the mommabear comes out and I just want to protect him from being made fun of or teased or picked on... b/c he IS such a "gentle giant"... even if he IS the one that's pushing other kids! I don't know. Like I said... it's magnified b/c he's so young... and doesn't know better. ...but I can't help but think of what life will be for him. ...I would hate for him to be followed to all his classes by the football coach (as I was by the basketball coach) to be recruited to be the linebacker (as EVERYONE keeps saying he's going to grow up to be)... when I KNOW that he's going to be some famous rock star!!! (aka- band geek) (Not that I wouldn't be supportive if he DID end up athletic or wanting to play sports... I just hate that preconceived idea that he's going to want to...)

Anywho. So. Son. I love you...you are more than I could have asked for in a little boy. I love you and your round belly...and your big long strong legs... I love your huge heart and your million dollar smile. You make your momma and daddy proud. Be proud of who you are, my boy. God designed you the way you are and you are perfect. Don't ever lose that joy... that spunk... don't ever be afraid to be yourself... of speaking your mind... of standing up for what is right... standing up for YOU. Mommy and daddy love you... and we are always.here.for.you.

#76 Read 50 Books

Hmph. So. I read this book b/c it was one of a STACK of books Miss Linds gave me. Oh my word! I mean. It was interesting. The book is based of the classic story of Beauty and the Beast... but with a modern twist. It is written with teens in mind for the target audience. Can I just say... if I was a teenager...or even a preteen... I would have felt that my intelligence was GREATLY insulted! Boy oh boy! The author, Alex Flinn, writes the way I would have in the 5th grade. And I wasn't that great of a writer! She tried too hard to be hip and cool...but her sentences run flat and have NO depth whatsoever. It was sometimes painful to read... but... I was interested in reading it since the movie is coming out soon... and I was thankful that it was, at the very least, a quick read. She has two other books that follow the same idea of classic fairytale gone modern... but... I think I'll pass.

Day7

A picture of your most treasured item:
Okay...they aren't really an "item"...but they are by far the ones I treasure most in life... so... I choose them... and their baby brother or sister... and their daddy. :)

2.23.2011

Day6

A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day:

Hmmm...This one is going to require some thinking....hmmmmmm. I mean. I love my life. Sure- it has it's ups and downs...and sure- it's only for a day... but I dunno if you know this...but there are a TON of people in the world! And to choose one person... that's gunna require some thinking... Hmmmm....

Is this lame or what... I'm going to NOT post a picture today... I mean... I can think of a list of people who's lives I'd be fascinated to have more insight on... but... alot of these people would be for random and superficial reasons... so.... I choose... noone.

2.22.2011

Day4&5

Day4- A picture of your favorite night

Well, this should be obvious. I mean....I've had many a GREAT nights... but my favorite was when I married my BFF. :) ::awwww::

I'm totally lame and forgot to post yesterday...so here's today's challenge picture:

Day5- A picture of your favorite memory

Like my post for Day4...I have many favorite memories...but one that will always be a top 3 will be the birth of my children. Each one has been unique so far... but each one has been perfect. I will never EVER forget the day that I became a mommy the first time... the joy I felt holding my newborn son...and finally knowing that IT'S A BOY! :)

2.20.2011

Day3

A picture of the cast from your favorite show:

This is by far...the BEST show that has ever been on television. I first watched LOST during it's first season. I couldn't get into it. I mean... I couldn't understand how a show about people who crashed on an island would last longer than a season. I mean... surely SURELY someone will find them and rescue them and BOOM. End of show. Then there were some wiggity wack things like polar bears and "ghost monster" things that just put it over the top for me.

Right before we had Jude... our good friends, the Conners, raved and raved about the show and let us borrow the seasons on DVD (I think it was like 1-4 or something). Let me tell you. Wow. I couldn't stop! I wanted to know what was next! The more you watch...the more questions you have, but the more you understand too! I quickly fell in love with Jin and Sun... Claire and Charlie ::tear:: and baby Aaron... Sawyer... Sayid... Kate... Hurley... and ::sigh:: Matthew Fox... I mean Jack. ;)

It's a really awesome AWESOME show... that you really need to stick with and watch. Great message too. ::sigh:: Now I'm having LOST withdrawals... ;)

2.19.2011

Day2

A picture of you and the person you have been closest with...

Well...I mean it's obvious that I'd be "closest" to Derrick...so I chose one of my girlfriends! There are a few other people I could have posted a picture of myself with...but I heart me some Jaime!

The first time I "met" Jaime... I didn't know that she was going to be a member on my 4th grade team. Actually...we didn't really officially meet... just happened to be at the same place at the same time. It was the summer before my first year of teaching. I was so jazzed to have my own classroom to decorate that I think I was there a month before school started to get everything ready. Good thing I did...b/c the teacher who had the classroom before me was OBSESSED (understatement) with cows. OBSESSED. To the point...that her rewards system was "cow patties"... and her bookshelves were painted white with black spots. Um. Yes. These were the bookshelves that I found awaiting all my precious books. Um. Yes. and Um, no thank you. So... I hunted down the Principal's secretary to ask her (beg her!) if I could paint them... b/c there was NO way I could teach with moocow shelves all around me!!! So... there I was... explaining that the shelves "hurt my soul"... while this little blonde girl is waiting her turn behind me. Apparently she went and told her then- BF, Jonathan that some random big tall chick said something hurt her soul... I'm sure she thought I was bizzare... LOL! :D

I'm so very thankful for Jaime. I don't think words will ever express that enough...

30 Day Photo Challenge

How cute! I saw this on Derrick's cousin's FB page and I've decided to steal the idea for my blog! ;) Each day for 30 days, I will post a picture with a specific theme... They don't have to be pictures I have taken, per se, but will give you a glimpse into the world of kimbasa! :)

I think some of BlogFF's should join me!!!

Day 1- A picture of yourself with 10 facts:

(Hey, no one said it had to be a flattering picture!!!)

10 facts:
1. I'm an only child... although I have a 1/2 brother...and supposedly a 1/2 sister...
2. I am terrified of heights...
3. I've learned that my house will NEVER be as clean as it used to be...
4. I love California...
5. I'm the oldest cousin/grandchild on my mom's side...the youngest on my dad's...
6. I wish that I could speak my mind at ALL times... but I'd get in a LOT of trouble...
7. I don't "get" people sometimes...and can't comprehend why some people make the choices they do...
8. The older I get...the more I understand Ecclesiastes 3:1-13
9. ...understanding it doesn't make it any easier to live it...
10. Craig Groeschel said something at Catalyst OneDay that will stick with me forever... He said
"Husbands… you are the only one who can be a husband to your wives. Wives… you are the only one who can be a wife to your husbands. Fathers… you are the only one who can father your children. Mothers… you are the only one who can mother your children." Now... he was talking about ministry- and not sacrificing family over the time/stress/thoughts towards ministry... but still... it's a true story... and I need to try to remember it more often...

2.17.2011

...The Lovely Bones...

#76 Read 50 Books

Well. I've read 8 out of the 50 books (nine if you count that I read Mockingjay twice!) I'm working slowly but surely! It's been alot more difficult to find time to read once Emme became mobile...

Anywho. Hmmm. What to say about this book? Hmmmm. Well. I didn't like it. Not even a little bit. I wanted to read this because I've been wanting to see the movie- but wanted to read the book first. It's a story about a young 14 year old girl who was brutally assaulted and murdered on her way home from school. This tragedy rocks her little neighborhood and tears her family apart. The book follows the dead girl, Susie, in her afterlife...as she watches what unfolds on earth. It's creepy, really, how much she sees and who she watches. She so desperately wants her murder caught...but being a ghost or whatever she is kinda makes it difficult to do anything about it. ...but then...sometimes she can be seen...I.don't.know. It was all gruesome and sad and looooong! And I was bummed at the ending... I had some awesome ideas of how it should end... but I had more WTH moments than anything else! Blah!

I hope the movie is better...

...stupid bowl...

#86 Host a Superbowl Party

Hmmmm... I wish I could say that I had this awesome Superbowl party planned for weeks and weeks... but truth be told... the party was planned in.... um... a couple hours! LOL!

I had asked Derrick a few weeks before if he wanted to throw a party for the Superbowl... he didn't ever really answer me. Then we had gotten an evite to a party...but with two babies two and under is kinda a downer when it comes to big parties... it's hard to enjoy yourself when you're always looking out for the babies! :) So. That left us with the option of either 1. Derrick going to watch Superbowl alone (which really didn't bother me at all!) or 2. Having a last minute gathering at our house!

So. When Derrick got home from church, I headed out to the store to grab a bunch of munchies...and returned home to find the party a startin... LOL... I laugh because there were only 2 guys that came...so w/ them and DLo and I ...there was a total of four people at our "party"... six if you include Jude and Emme! Haha! A couple more showed up after the GREAT halftime show. It really was fun...and I would honestly always rather host a party than go to one! :)

Finally????

#37 Potty Train Jude

Well... I think we've done it! Homeslice is pretty much potty trained! I mean... he's had a few accidents- usually 1 a week... but he's in BIG BOY undies now! WOOT WOOT! We're going on week 4 of being dry at church... and he's dry almost every day after nap time! YEA!!! Now... if we could ONLY get him to TELL us when he has to pee... ::sigh:: I still have to take him every hour/hourhalf or so! But still...there is a light at the end of tunnel! :D
