...whs...

So. Last night...I went to my 10 year HS reunion. To sum it up in one word: lame. It definitely coulda used some kimbasa flair (organization and creativity- not to toot my own horn). It WAS nice to see some people- although the turnout wasn't very good...and it was nice to know that you won't have to see some of the other people for a long long time. It's funny how some people don't change...and how others are like a completely different person....hmmm...I think I would categorize myself in the latter in many ways. I'm not nearly as outgoing or loud as I was (lol- I know some of you just can't quite fathom that...but it's totally true)... I really loved HS when I was in HS....but I think I may be over it now...

Some highlights of the evening:

* The "supercool" DJ(s) and their blaring loud music...my throat hurt so bad from screaming at people to talk...and I'm PRETTY sure my ears were bleeding...I have also mastered the art of reading lips...
* The fact that the music was NOT circa 1994-1998...I mean...really? Can't I get a "comeonridethetrain..." No? Hmmm...
* Kristen.... Didn't like her then. Don't like her now. You'd think that after 10 years, someone would get the stick outta their... hmmm. Not so much. Ugh. The funny part- I sat at the same table as her for dinner. I thought I'd be the mature one...and asked about her life/family (sigh- I was TRYING to be nice)... but she didn't ask about mine. What a beast. So...needless to say, I started shoveling the food in my mouth so I could leave the table. :P
* Fat....I mean...10 years is a good amount of time to have a full body makeover. And while some people looked FABulous....others....I mean- I'm a GOOD 40lbs heavier than I was my Sr. year....but...I was also dressed in clothes that FIT me last night. Word of advice: girlfriend...I don't know your life story- you might have had a kid or two- but you do NOT wear a size 1 anymore (and I can see your pantyline...or is that a roll?)
* Klingons... I mean. I don't really know you- why are you still here??? We've pretty much told each other our life stories of the past decade...I don't have anything else...to...say.... and No...I will NOT go out onto the dance floor to dance.

Okay- Feeling ULTRA negative- I did have a decent time...here are some highlights that reflect that:

* Sanna- missed that girl to pieces! She looks EXACTLY the same and has the same bubbly personality. I hope we keep in touch...
* Mike H- my word. I'm so envious of people who up and moved and did something interesting in life... He recently married a cute girl from Poland...and is living in Minnesota.
* Olivia- my goodness- I feel like she has grown up the most...even if she doesn't feel like she has!
* Linds- awww...Lindsay. I love her- and I can't believe it's been so long since we saw each other...it's nice to have friendships that pick up where they left off...it was like we hadn't been apart!
* Food- wow- there was a lot...and it was VERY yummy (Fajitas- I didn't have high hopes- but it was delish)

I felt like such an old person- My thoughts honestly were..."I'm SO tired...it's only 8:13pm- I could totally go home to my empty house and take a NAP!" I even tried going to the Yard House afterwards...but ended up circling the parking lot and going home b/c I just wanted to snuggle w/ Derrick and sleep!

Well. I dunno if I'll go to the 20th...but...there were a lot of people that didn't come to this one...that I'd really like to see...so, I guess I can't say never. :) (Go Knights...)

...five...

So. Five blissful months ago, I gave birth to Jude. I write this each time...but I can't believe he's already this old. Wasn't it just a week ago that I was laying there in the hospital (with my ohsofashionable gown???)? I have just been falling so much deeper in love with this little guy- I was telling Derrick just the other day- if feels as if my heart will burst...I can't imagine loving him more- and yet, I constantly do...

Recently Jude has:
* eaten solid foods: rice cereal, avacados, sweet potatoes, pears, and green beans
* starting sitting up pretty well on his own (thanks to the spare tire around his diaper!)
* started sleeping through the night (again) in his own room! (can I get an AMEN?)
* got two shiny white new teeth
* started to laugh more
* helps mom around the house- cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry! ;)
* started a new bedtime routine (prayers would be much appreciated!)
* started playing w/ his toys more- as in- he doesn't just grab at it...

Gosh...my brain is on "slow" tonight (maybe it's b/c I'm listening to Jude cry right now- it's the bedtime routine *sigh*) Anywho. I feel like the luckiest girl on the planet. I'm too blessed.

Jude,
Your dad and I are so proud of you. You are such a great baby...and you bring us so much joy. I cannot express to you how overwhelmed I am with love for you....Jude, your daddy and I thank the Lord for trusting us to be your parents. We pray that we will raise you to be a strong and faithful servant of God.

We love you son...

...How Can I...

...keep from singing Your praise....
How can I ever say enough...
How amazing is Your love...
How can I keep from shouting Your name...
I know I am loved by the King...
And it makes my heart want to sing...
- Tomlin

I was just looking at all the pictures of Jude's "birth"day....and I just can't believe just how blessed I am....I cannot believe that almost 5 months have gone by...and I just can't believe that God has entrusted Derrick and I to be his parents. God is good.

...laugh. OUT. loud...

So. I've still been making Jude's baby food. This week, we're trying Pears. I've been really excited to give him pears- thinking he'd LOVE them.... And...while I think the jury might still be out- these pictures will give you an idea of what the verdict might be.... although- in true "fatkid" fashion, you'll notice (in the video) that he readily opens his mouth for more- despite the faces!

...Nov. 4th...

So. I'm not a girl who follows politics. I should, but I don't. I don't wanna say "I don't care" about it...b/c I guess I do...but so much of it is corrupt and confusing and I would rather catch up on celebrity gossip (go ahead and judge me!)...

But. This Nov. 4th, Litchfield, Avondale, and Agua Fria Districts are asking for you to vote YES and support the Override initiative. Passing this initiative WILL NOT RESULT IN A TAX INCREASE. (AZ requires that Overrides be renewed every 7 years) The Override is important b/c it allows these districts the funding needed for...aides, special areas teachers, smaller class sizes, gifted programs, etc... Wow. That means- if I were still the Media Specialist this year...my job would be in jeopardy. Wow. If the renewal does not pass, Litchfield Elementary School District would need to cut approx. $4,500,000 over the next three years...

So. If you live in the Litchfield, Avondale, Agua Fria District areas...please vote YES on the Override. It will NOT raise your taxes, but it WILL benefit your children.
